What it is

An open-source desktop platform for running live worship and event presentations. A volunteer-safe Operator Mode, a deep AV mode for technical directors, and automatic weekend-service building from Planning Center and local media.

How it works

Three steps. No drama.

01

The weekend builds itself

Witness reads the Planning Center plan and the media already sitting on your drive, then assembles the service as a timeline instead of a folder someone has to interpret.

02

You review before it commits

Every import lands in a review screen first. Approve it and Witness takes a snapshot, so any import can be rolled back. Your source files are never modified.

03

Sunday runs in Operator Mode

The volunteer at the desk sees cues and a next slide. The controls that can take down an output are not in that mode at all.

What you get

What it does.

  • 01Operator Mode — volunteers can’t break the outputs
  • 02AV Mode for technical directors
  • 03Builds the weekend service from Planning Center + local media
  • 04Reversible imports — snapshot and rollback, source files never touched
  • 05Open source
What's inside

The full kit.

  • 01Operator Mode — the surface a volunteer runs a service from
  • 02AV Mode — routing, automation, and diagnostics for the technical director
  • 03Auto Ingest — Planning Center plus local media, assembled into a service timeline
  • 04Snapshots and rollback on every import, with source files left untouched
  • 05A local SQLite workspace, so the service does not live in someone’s cloud account
Proof

Witness is pre-alpha and open source, so you can check this yourself instead of taking our word: the domain logic carries 46 tests, and the foundation target is a workspace that loads a plan, advances cues in Operator Mode, commits an import, snapshots it, and rolls it back.

Questions

The honest answers.

If it is open source, what am I paying for? +

The code is MIT and always will be. Pro is for teams who would rather have builds, support, and someone to email on a Saturday night than clone a repo and run pnpm. Paying is a choice, not a gate.

How is this different from ProPresenter? +

Two audiences, one app. Volunteers get a mode where the dangerous controls are absent rather than merely discouraged. Technical directors get routing, automation, and diagnostics that presentation software usually treats as somebody else’s problem.

What if an import goes wrong? +

You see the import in a review screen before it commits. After it commits, there is a snapshot to roll back to. Your original media is never written to.

Can I run it this Sunday? +

No. It is pre-alpha and building the foundation and live engine. Anyone who tells you their pre-alpha is weekend-ready is selling you a bad Sunday.

How do I get it when it is ready? +

There is no checkout button yet, and the code is public in the meantime. Email hello@boringlabs.online if you want the build rather than the repo, or if there is something your team needs that ProPresenter has never done.

Lock it in

Witness.
