What it is

A local-network app that turns an Ableton Live set into a tablet-controlled setlist with automatic, musical fades between sections. Mid-set, an operator jumps between song sections with a clean musical transition — never touching the arrangement.

How it works

Three steps. No drama.

01

It reads your locators

Segue parses the Arrangement-View locators you already use and turns them into a structured show: songs, sections, and the order they run in.

02

The band gets a tablet

Phones, tablets, and laptops on the same network open the setlist in a browser. No app store, no cloud, no dependency on the venue’s internet.

03

Jumps happen musically

Ask for a different section and Segue plans the move: stem-group fades, loop escape, click and guide handled, queued to land on a musical boundary instead of a hard cut.

What you get

What it does.

  • 01Tablet-controlled setlist over the local network
  • 02Automatic musical section-transition fades — the differentiator
  • 03Stem-group fades and loop-escape
  • 04Panic button and restorable snapshots
  • 05Never mutates your Ableton arrangement
What's inside

The full kit.

  • 01The locator parser — Ableton Arrangement locators in, a structured show model out
  • 02The transition engine — the fade and jump plan that makes a mid-set move sound intentional
  • 03A section arrangement editor, so the show order is not frozen to the session
  • 04Transition profiles, so a ballad and a fast song do not fade the same way
  • 05Panic and cancel, plus restorable snapshots
Proof

The hard part is the part that is finished. The locator parser, transition engine, arrangement editor, and transition profiles all exist with their own test suites — 56 tests across four packages. The live Ableton bridge and the browser interface are the next builds, which is why this is a pre-order.

Questions

The honest answers.

Will it change my Ableton set? +

No. Segue reads your locators and controls playback around them. The arrangement you rehearsed is the arrangement you play.

What makes it different from a normal setlist remote? +

Remotes jump. Segue transitions. Asking for the last chorus mid-verse produces a planned move — stems fade, the loop lets go, the jump lands somewhere musical — instead of a cut that the room hears as a mistake.

Does it need internet? +

No. It runs on your local network. Venue Wi-Fi failing should not be able to stop a service.

How much of it is built? +

The show model, the transition engine, the arrangement editor, and the profile model are built and tested. The bridge that talks to Ableton and the browser interface the band would hold are still ahead. We are telling you that before you pay, not after.

When can I put it in front of a band? +

Not yet, and there is no checkout button here until it is ready. Tell us what your set looks like at hello@boringlabs.online. The transition engine gets better the more real arrangements it has seen.
